My #AskGaryVee Story: Buy this book. Gary is a practitioner. You could buy your advise from a so-called expert for thousands and thousands of dollars -- I HAVE. However, Gary smacked my face in July 2014 with a paradox: Here is this guy that runs a REAL business with something like 400+ employees in Manhattan, and HE STARTED TO GIVE HIS ADVISE AWAY. That month, I started watching his new show "The #AskGaryVee Show" and he was giving away everything: I mean EVERYTHING. His best advise. He was not trying to sell me into some seminar that led to private coaching that led to an island retreat with a yearly fee. No, this guy is simply preaching his religion: and I became a full on follower. You can tell who you are dealing with by their true work ethic and their way of interacting with the world. Gary is as true as they come.

The results for me did not start with "Converted more clients," "got paid more," or "bought a new car." What Gary taught me is that is not the point: Gary's advise on the show (and his completely new take on his advise in this book) made me be a better husband and father; Gary made me be a harder worker; Gary made me stop doing stupid things that were actually harming me more than helping. ... AND YES, because of all of that great things started to happen (except for buying that new car, because Gary let me see how I did not need to waste that money). My kids see me more and I am a better dad. I'm a better human being to be around -- and my business is doing so amazing BECAUSE OF THAT.

In this book, you get actual steps to take your work with those you serve to exciting new places: But that's all possible because Gary gives us the core pieces of himself that allow him to do these other tactics. Should a Long-time GaryVee Subscriber Buy This? Or Just Watch the Youtube Series?

Is it worth buying the book (or audiobook) if you have watched all of the shoooooooows?
That is the real question if you are a long-time subscriber of Gary Vee.

I personally enjoyed the audiobook the most because it gave me an extra amount of depth that wasn't available anywhere else.

Below is a honest Pros & Cons chart of each format so you can see if buying the book or audiobook even fits your needs.
1) Youtube Series
Pros:
Monetarily Free
Shortest bite sized pieces of content (15-20 min video)
Most Entertaining - High energy and general shenanigans w/ the team

Cons:
Enormous actual time investment (157 15-20 min episodes)
Until recently, very hard to find specific questions and categories (thanks Ethan Ellis w/ [...] for search engine)
Required to be in front of a screen to watch it (w/ Internet connection)
Does not have access to Expanded Questions & Answers

2) Book (Hardback or Kindle)
Pros:
If you are a fast reader, FASTEST way to consume all the content
Simple to give away, pass along to friends
Something about a book (the romance around physical books)

Cons:
Reading (for “some people” that is an impossibility)

Best business book I've read in a looooooooong time.
This book is the result of what he promotes every single day: hustle. Is not only a great compilation of his best answers from his #AskGaryVee Show, but is also the entrepreneur's best investment if you are starting a company, or if you have some customers, if you are making 1M-10M monthly in revenues.. this book is right for you!
Personally, one of my favorite parts in this book is his concept of "Clouds & Dirt". He explains that the clouds are our north, the vision we have, our goal. And the dirt is all the work involved to achieve that goal, what we should be doing every day to achieve what we want. I truly believe that nothing comes without hard work.
So.. HEY YOU! Stop reading this. Stop thinking if this is the right book for you (believe me, it is). Buy it now and put in practice all these advices/lessons. It will give you a clear advantage from your competitors.

About the Author

Lorenzo Morello received his degree in Mechanical Automotive Engineering in 1968 at the Politecnico of Turin. He immediately began his career at the Politecnico as Assistant of Machine Design and Technologies.

Leaving the Politecnico in 1971, went to work at a branch of Fiat dedicated to vehicle studies, one that has been joined to the new Research Centre in 1976. He participates in the development of cars and experimental prototypes for the ESV US Program. He has also developed mathematical models for vehicle suspensions and road holding simulations.

Since 1973 he has been involved in a major project for the development of mathematical modeIs of the vehicle, to address the product policies of the company in facing the first energy crisis; as part of this activity he began the development of a new automatic transmission for reduced fuel consumption and a small direct injection diesel engine to be used on automobiles.

Dr. Morello was appointed manager of the chassis department of the Vehicle Research Unit and has coordinated the development of many research prototypes, such as electric cars, off-road vehicles, trucks and buses. He was appointed manager of the same Research Unit in 1977 and has been leading a group of about 100 design engineers, dedicated to the development of prototypes. A new urban bus with unitized thin steel sheet body, with spot welded joints, a commercial vehicle that will start production later, a small lightweight urban car, under contract from the National Research Council, and a hybrid car, under contract from the US Department of Energy, were developed in this period of time.

He took responsibility of the Engine Research Unit in 1980; this group, of about 200 people, was primarily dedicated to the development of new car engines. He has managed the development of many petrol engines according to the principle of high turbulence fast combustion. A direct injection diesel engine for cars, many turbocharged pre-chamber diesel engines, a modular two cylinder car engine and many other modified prototypes. He was appointed Director of Product Development in 1983; this position includes all applied research activities on Vehicle Products of Fiat Group. The Division included about 400 people, addressed to power train, chassis and bodies studies as well as prototype construction.

Dr. Morello joined Fiat Auto in 1983, to take responsibility for the development of new automotive petrol engines and the direct injection diesel (the first in the world for automobile applications). He was appointed Director for Powertrain Engineering in 1987; the objective of this group was to develop all engines produced by Fiat Auto brands. The most important activity in this period was the development of the new engine family to be produced in Pratola Serra, which included more than 20 different engines.

At the end of his career, he returned to vehicle development in 1994, as director for Vehicle Engineering; this group was addressed to designing and testing bodies, chassis components, electric and electronic systems, wind tunnels, safety center and other facilities.

Dr. Morello retired in 1999 and started a new activity as consultant to the strategic planning of Elasis, a new company in the Fiat Group, entirely dedicated to vehicle applied research.

Along with Fiat Research Center he participated in the planning of courses for the new Faculty on Automotive Engineering of the Politecnico of Turin, and prepared related lecture notes. He was contract professor of Vehicle System Design and has been contract professor of Automotive Transmission Design since 2001 at the Politecnico of Turin and the University of Naples.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. It was like riding a rollercoaster!

Kassanna has done it again! The very first sentence grabbed my attention and held it. There was action galore with Simone, a white tiger shifter, and mother fighting to find her child. I meant the battles in this story was epic, and when Roar, a polar bear shifter entered the scene, the chemistry battle between them were HAWT! Plus, they worked well as a team to defeat anyone standing in their way. I must say, that I really like Deuce, a lion shifter who was a mercenary/dealer of sorts who loved to play games like an excellent chess player loves strategizing. He was suave and deadly. I would love to have him redeemed with his own story. Plus, the piece of resistance was Simone and Roar's daughter, Kimmie, a little girl who was saber tooth tiger shifter. She was smart as a whip and just as quick. I was sad that story closed the way it did. But, hey, I know that the next installment will take us on another action filled merry chase, and I will love it! Kudos Ms. Kassanna. I can't wait, literally.

I am an avid fan of this author and have followed her work through many genres. This book in particular peeked my interest from the very first paragraph in the very first chapter. I could not put this book down until I read "The End." If you like/love paranormal genres, you will enjoy this. This is book nine in the series. Enjoy!

Rodger Streitmatter, a former newspaper reporter, is a member of the School of Communication faculty at American University. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his husband, Tom Grooms.

The couples who come to life in the following chapters were social insurgents.
That is, each pair of men and each pair of women defied the social order by
creating sub-rosa same-sex marriages long before such relationships were
legally sanctioned.

Tennessee Williams and Frank Merlo, for example, began their outlaw
marriage in 1948—spending every day and night together, while loving and
supporting each other to a degree fully comparable to that of any husband
and wife. Their partnership continued until Merlo died of cancer in 1963.

Outlaw Marriages tells Williams and Merlo’s story, along with those of
fourteen other same-sex couples who combined their lives either as husband
and husband or wife and wife during eras when no legal institution and no
church approved of such a union.

The other trait that these renegade couples have in common is that they all
fully qualify as, in a word, extraordinary.

In many instances, that powerful adjective fits because of the remarkable
contributions a particular couple made to the culture—the fields ranging
from literature to modern art to filmmaking. The achievements of other couples
include opening graduate education to American women and pioneering
a new form of journalism in the pages of the New Yorker magazine.

With Williams and Merlo, their gift was creating some of the most memorable
plays in the history of American theater. Williams was addicted to
drugs and promiscuity when he met the rock-solid Merlo. The World War
II vet then saw to it that the playwright regained his emotional and physical
equilibrium, allowing him to write such theatrical masterpieces as the
Pulitzer Prize–winning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

A few of the other extraordinary contributions that unfold in this book are

• Jane Addams and Mary Rozet Smith revolutionizing the field of social
work

• Greta Garbo and Mercedes de Acosta taking the lead in transforming
Hollywood into the celebrity capital of the world

When reading the statements above, you probably recognized only one of
the two names in the pairings. That’s because the achievements of one partner
often became widely known, while those of the other partner stayed
hidden—until the publication of this book.

Outlaw Marriages is an apt title on two levels.

First, all fifteen couples created unions that defied the laws and mores
of their day. Many of these de facto partnerships survived and thrived, despite
their lack of support by church or state, for thirty or forty years—in
some cases, fifty.

Second, these couples flouted convention. Aaron Copland was thirtytwo
years old when he met and instantly fell in love with a drop-dead gorgeous
violinist named Victor Kraft, who was only seventeen. The composer’s
friends and family didn’t take the relationship seriously, convinced the couple
wouldn’t survive the dramatic age difference. Copland and Kraft proved
them wrong. The men not only stayed together but also jointly created a distinctly
American style of music that critics today, eighty years later, are still
praising.

That the couples were willing to bend the marital rules doesn’t mean they
all succeeded in creating relationships that were made in heaven—far from
it. A regrettable scenario that plays out in several chapters begins with the
lesser-known partner being absolutely essential to the better-known partner’s
rise to success, but then . . . the high-achieving partner getting what might be
called the “twenty-year itch.” Martha Carey Thomas set the standard back in
the 1890s, summarily dumping her partner of two decades, Mamie Gwinn,
for another woman. Janet Flanner went a similar route in the 1930s, as did
Audre Lorde in the 1980s.

In the instances listed above as well as in others where the outlaw marriage
eventually falls apart, readers hear the whole story—which typically includes
infidelity, deceit, and betrayal. These unfortunate factors are revealed
in full detail, as they’re the realities that often confront any long-term relationship,
gay or straight.

To help the various outlaw marriages come alive in the reader’s mind,
I’ve included photos of all fifteen couples. Tracking down these images was
often a challenge, especially in the instances when one or both members of
a couple—as with Greta Garbo and Mercedes de Acosta—didn’t publicly acknowledge
their relationship. And so, in some cases, I’ve had to use two separate photos of the partners, since a single photo of them together either didn’t exist or wasn’t available. There are also instances—as with Jane Addams and Mary Rozet Smith—when I’ve used a photo of poor quality because it shows the partners together, even though higher-quality photos of the two individuals separately could have been used.

Whether a chapter begins with a single image or a pair of them, each story
that follows is a page-turner. Sometimes the most compelling element in it is
the contribution the couple made; other times, it’s the internal dynamics of
their relationship. But one theme runs through them all:

Two people joining together to create an outlaw marriage plays a central

partner’s very being.

Outlaw Marriages: The Hidden Histories of Fifteen Extraordinary Same-Sex Couples

I vaguely knew, before reading this book, that many of the people profiled in it were gay--people such as Walt Whitman, Jane Addams and Aaron Copland. But I had no idea that each one of them had a partner who played a critical role in their success. I didn't know, for example, that a man named Peter Doyle served as the muse for Whitman when he wrote many of the poems in Leaves of Grass. I loved learning how Whitman and Peter Doyle met. This book taught me that, as well as the similar "back story" about 14 other couples who became partners long before gay marriage became a national issue. I found it fascinating to learn about the internal dynamics of these various couples, and I appreciate that the author didn't whitewash the relationship but included the betrayals and other difficulties they struggled with. If you like books that are an easy read and also teach you a great deal, Outlaw Marriages is a great choice.

Loving Outlaw Marriages

When I started this book, I thought I would learn about important same-sex couples from the past and how their relationships worked when there was such a strong stigma against homosexuality. The book definitely fulfilled my expectations in that regard. What I also learned by the time I finished the book, though, was so much wonderful detail about the contributions that these various couples made.

With the artists Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, for example, I learned that Rauschenberg played a critical role in Johns painting his most recognized work. The two men were living together, and one morning Johns got up and said, just in passing, that he had a dream about painting the American flag. Johns was just saying this in a matter-of-fact way, sort of laughing at the idea. But Rauschenberg took it seriously. He said that maybe that idea had merit, so he encouraged Johns to go ahead and paint what he had seen himself painting in the dream. So then Johns did it. So, in reality, if Rauschenberg had not been there, Johns may never have painted one of modern art's most iconic works.

The same sort of scenario played out with other couples, too. If Alice B. Toklas had not been so determined to see that Gertrude Stein's works were published, they probably never would have been. And if Bessie Marbury had not encouraged Elsie de Wolfe to start charging people for decorating their homes, she never would have become America's first interior designer.

In the end, this book shows you how important a partner or a spouse or a husband or a wife can be--whether they are of different sexes or the same sex.

15 Same Sex marriages of well known people over the last century

This non-fiction book is a compilation of 15 same-sex marriages with at least one well-known partner over a period from the mid 1860's through the current day. Most of these outlaw marriages involved at least one partner in the public eye, including theatre, films, painting, illustrating, and education. Most readers will recognize at least one partner in each partnership. These are couples who made significant contributions to our American culture.
Obviously, none of them were married in the socially accepted meaning of the word. Many of the relationships were generally closeted, but in those instances some of their close friends were aware and accepting, if not supportive. One of the partners in all of them achieved such public stature that even the press - well knowing their same-sex attraction - would not publicly condemn them.
Still, these couples suffered some of the same injustices we see today. Some of their families could not accept their relationships. In some cases, their careers were hobbled by their same-sex attraction. In many cases, infidelity on the part of one or both partners led to the dissolution of their relationships, even after several decades. In almost every partnership, their relationships were completely ignored in published obituaries at their death.
These short biographies take neither an accepting nor condemning tone. They are well-researched, using letters between the partners and to their friends and published individual biographies as confirmed sources. They are well written, making this book a pleasure to read.

Very Comprehensive

I purchased it as a required text book for a Construction management class. I feel like the illustrations help make the reading come to life. I wish that there were more online training tools to help like study guides and blogs to discuss the topics. Otherwise, the book is good and I will not trade it in, I plan to use it as a resource for my future career in interior and architectural planning.

Very Informative book, that has help me understand many of the feature around the construction of small project such as a residential building to one as complex as a major highway. Save your more money and purchase the 3rd edition versus the 4th, the information is almost exactly the same and the price is much more reasonable.

Good book for schedulers and project managers

Booked looked kinda used but wasnt expecting otherwise. The price was excellent, a lot cheaper than buying or renting from the college. The teacher said this book has a lot of good info for schedulers and project management so hopefully will get good use out of it.
